TEEN MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES

  • Tips to Help Teens Cope During COVID-19 – A helpful guide on promoting and maintaining positive mental health. This guide provides actionable tips to improve mental health and wellness, especially during the COVID pandemic.
  • gov: Nicotine & Addiction – Information on nicotine and tobacco use prevention
  • Breaking the Silence – A part of the Project Safe organization, (706) 765-8019 is a text line that is aimed at helping teens recognize and safely exit unhealthy relationships.

OVERDOSE PREVENTION AND ADDICTION SUPPORT

  • Alcoholics Anonymous in Atlanta – Resource for finding in-person and virtual AA meetings in Atlanta.
  • HarmRecution.org – Features harm reduction strategies and provides information to help people identify, respond, and prevent overdoses.
  • Live Another Day – Graded list of the top-rated accredited dual diagnosis treatment centers in Georgia.
  • National Institute on Drug Abuse – Helpful resource for finding treatment centers for friends or family members that are struggling with substance abuse.

MEAL DISTRIBUTION CENTERS

Near Carver High

The district said it would open five meal distribution sites where students can pick up food. The five sites are: Douglass High School, Cleveland Avenue Elementary School, Bunche Middle School, Sylvan Middle School and Phoenix Academy, which is located at Crim High School. 

The sites will be in operation from 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday during the building closures. All APS students can receive a free bagged meal.

In addition, Beginning on March 23, those sites will give APS families a bag of shelf-stable grocery items from the Atlanta Community Food Bank during the same hours.
