WHERE THE LIGHT ENTERS
According to the UCLA Mapping Project, “Million Dollar Hoods,” more than 20,000 children in Los Angeles alone have a family member in jail or prison. Between 1991 and 1997, the number of mothers behind bars doubled. Their children are at risk of experiencing pervasive trauma, usually associated with losing a parent through death but accompanied by blame, stigma, and shame.
At POPS, we amplify voices of resilience, light, and hope. In addition to the profound healing from writing and sharing their eleven-secret and silent stories in a safe and nurturing community and publications, POPS students learn mindfulness techniques and practices that promote emotional healing, balance, and health.
The wound is where the light enters you.
